Shepherd Neame Merlin Rocket Nationals Day 6 - Finals
Only one point separated Glenn Truswell with his Olly Turner from Richard Whitworth and his Sally Townend, it was going to be a tight race.
| With the wind coming for the west, the seas were the classic Whitstable short chop with easterly ebb tide. With a steady force 4 to 5, the fleet launched to see who would grab the title. Richard Whitworth led both the race and championship in the beginning of the race till close to the leeward mark when he capsized. |
Richard Witworth gave a master class on how to retrieve the situation by recovering from the 23th to 6th position, but it was not enough. Glenn Truswell was crowned the national champions, having sailed in a varied set of breezes and putting an exemplary series together, but being pushed all the way by Richard Witworth and his Sally Townend.
